Description:
Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Product Marketing, High Availability Technologies & Services primary responsibility is to act as owner of a Line of Business and/or service offering responsible for the sales growth, targeted profitability and increased win ratio on sales efforts. This includes the planning and marketing to assess the market size & requirements in the data center and determine a roadmap of tailored product solutions and pricing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The role will require deep analysis of market segmentation, predicted demand as well as feature requirements through direct interaction with end user customers, engineering & architecture, sales makers, industry analysts and alliance partners. This analysis will be used to drive product business cases and roadmap decisions that position DecisionOne to win in the marketplace.
It is expected that the Product Marketing will be the source of field-ready roadmaps, service specifications, customer-facing product literature, and serve as the product marketing subject matter expert in support of sales training.
This role will act in the capacity to sell a service offering and develop business partnerships with major OEM's of technology from both a commercial and supplier stand point.
? 10+ years experience in the IT marketplace managing enterprise products.
? 6+ years experience working directly with OEM's and Supplier to create business partnerships for commercial and/or supplier service capabilities.
? Ability to develop and sell solutions with third parties to establish contractual relationships
? Proven track record in execution of the product lifecycle.
? Requires communication skills including technical writing and product positioning.
? Advanced desktop publishing skills (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
? Attention to detail balanced with high level situational awareness.
? Understanding of the enterprise computing marketplace, large data center environments, high availability equipment including: servers, storage and network equipment and their manufacturers.
? Research market, competition and customer environments to understand customer specific usage of technology in the various market segments with leverage from third-party (e.g. Gartner) market research and/or forecasts.
? Understand customers buying process, price points and consumption models.
? Deep understanding of customer technology requirements and how they impact data center applications under the ITIL methodology.
? Understand partner technology roadmaps and map emerging relevant technologies.
? Research 3rd party ODM roadmaps to assess applicability of designs to the market.
? Work with DecisionOne IT and Ops on future proof of concept ideas.
? Use all of the above to define potential product concepts.
? Must understand technical product concepts to assist engineers in making product/commodity trade-off decisions.
? Produce in-depth Marketing Product Requirement Documents (PRD's).
? Monitor competitive approaches and products/services.
? Drive an understanding of how to differentiate DecisionOne products to meet the customer needs and provide superior value.
? Ensure DecisionOne remains innovative and customer focused.
? Manage the Planning Process to guide the Executive Management team on product roadmap decisions.
? Produce Product P&L's and business contracts - expected volumes, margins and overall platform profitability.
? The ability to flex and effectively cover for other functions on the marketing team (planning, outbound, supply/demand) as needed is considered a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
? 10 years experience in the IT marketplace.
? 5+ years in product planning.
? 5+ years in a sales, supplier management or business development role.
? Strong presentation and communication skills
? Strategic analysis and business modeling skills.
? Technical understanding of Data Center computing environments and their economics.
? Proven track record in managing multiple requests from sales.
? Requires good analytical and communication skills.
? Attention to detail balanced with high level process overview/improvements.
? Business Sales Acumen (understanding of the sales cycle).
? Solid understanding of corporate customers - and the way they procure and consume IT.
? Ability to engage cross functional resources, regardless of geographic location, in order to achieve goal/ meet customer needs.
? Manage time and prioritize effectively; demonstrate an ability to cope with a complex and changing environment.
? Travel to meet with OEM's, Suppliers or customers is expected up to 30% of the time.
? Prefer a Bachelor's degree or four years experience in sales, marketing, finance, or related field.
