PRESS RELEASE: DECISIONONE ANNOUNCES CAPABILITIES TO SUPPORT ROHS-COMPLIANT PRODUCTS

DecisionOne Offers Logistics and Repair Services to RoHS-Compliant Electronic Equipment Manufacturers and OEMs

Devon, PA, July 31, 2006 - DecisionOne, a leading technology support services firm, announced that its Northboro, MA, and Grove City, OH, facilities meet standards required to support RoHS-compliant parts and equipment for manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment sold in Europe starting in July of 2006. The company has implemented processes to identify, repair, and stock RoHS-compliant products. This enables DecisionOne to offer its Logistics and Repair Services to any Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) or resellers who market or employ RoHS-compliant parts or equipment.

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union. The RoHS directive became effective July 1, 2006. The directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. These substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. It is closely linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) which sets collection, recycling, and recovery targets for electrical goods. A growing number of states and countries have either already passed or are considering new legislation and regulations governing the ability of the electronic industry to ship and sell products worldwide if they are not proactively developing programs and processes to reduce the environmental impacts of their products.

“DecisionOne is committed to delivering consistent, efficient, high-quality services and support to our customers,” says Steve Martin, EVP and chief operating officer, DecisionOne. “Through an early awareness of RoHS, we were quickly able to implement processes in our logistics and repair facilities and services to support RoHS-compliant products thus demonstrating our commitment to our customers and the environment.”

DecisionOne’s Logistics services are designed to help customers cost-effectively use centralized depot service center capabilities. Services include warehousing and inventory management, advance exchange, staging and configuration, warranty management, repair and refresh services, and testing and screening. By partnering with DecisionOne, customers can focus their IT resources on core strategic initiatives, rather than on parts and repair depots, hardware, and logistics management. Supported technologies include servers; desktop, laptop, and workgroup devices; displays including LCD monitors and LCD/Plasma TVs; printers, scanners, and multifunction appliances; kiosks and POS equipment; PDAs and network devices; and digital and photo imaging devices.
